Inspired by Leah's recent post about decorating with biology charts, we wanted to share with you our own favorite source for old botanical and natural history prints, Panteek. Their selection is vast, with everything from eighteenth-century parrot prints to woodblock Japanese tree scenes...
Panteek has something for the science enthusiast in almost any field. Charming 1875 "Nest and Egg" prints depict birds' nests with their eggs hovering above in careful detail. Rare palm trees, popular in the Victorian era, are elegantly drawn in a series of prints from 1878. Or if science and natural history aren't your thing, Panteek also carries antique architectural and fashion prints, like Pochoir prints of Paris ladies in gorgeous saturated colors.
The prints vary widely in price, but a random selection ranged from $35 to $425.
Here's a key to the prints pictured above (from left to right), to give you some idea of the range:
• 1 Whorl-leaved Adenophora RSW160, $55
• 2 Pepo Indicus BZ100, $135
• 3 Wormskioldia Sanguinea BRD67, $85
• 4 Firecrest MN 132, $55
• 5 Tree Scene 123 with silver, No. 78/600 by Hajime Namiki 16" x 9 3/4" 2006, HJN112, $425
