Another dreamy retreat from The New York Times International Real Estate pages — this time it's a 4 bedroom and 3 bathroom escape on the Caribbean island of Barbados. The 3,500-square-foot multilevel home was built in 1975 by Ian Morrison, a local architect, who took inspiration for the design from Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings."
The majority of the rooms are open to the outdoors and the whitewashed interior walls help to move the eye towards the ocean views. The elegantly furnished property in the former British colony is listed at $2.5 million but the article states that "buyers can estimate cutting 15 to 30 percent off asking prices".
