Billy's Brother: A Great-Looking Slanted Bookshelf

Shelving is one of the things that can be easily improved in any home. It's something that most people just forget because we all have so much to store. You can either get rid of your extra things, if there are any, or you can just get new and improved shelving to remedy the clutter situation. That's why I found this bookshelf really interesting. It's great to store all of your books, DVDs, CDs, and multimedia items, while still retaining a unifying theme. Read on to find out more.

This bookshelf takes its name from the famous IKEA Billy bookshelves. I can't even count how many of these bookshelves I have had over the years. That's why the Swedish design agency ADDI aptly named it Billy's Brother. It's actually a hybrid between a sculpture and a bookshelf. It was a shortlisted entry in the Primo Vico Magistratti, a contest for the DePadova furniture company.

The base pieces of the bookshelf are slanted, giving it a strange feeling. We find that it's best used in large spaces, such as lofts, to segment space. The wavy boards give the impression that the shelves will spill their content, but that's just an optical illusion. We think that this bookshelf is great. It's quite unique and will be perfect for those large living rooms that everyone seems to have. With a few of these, you could create strange pathways in your loft, which could work, depending on the way that you've put it together. [via TrendsNow]
