Jessica Herman writes about creative uses for wallpaper, with helpful input from Rose Tejeda-Navarre and Jennifer Rossignuolo, owners of Urban Source. Our favorite is the recessed door panel covering. We'd hate to cover up beautiful, well preserved doors, but ours are pretty fug (painted over and probably from the early 60s), and a great patterned paper on the recessed portion might help us not hate them.
Also covered in the Home section of this issue: Casey Gunschel's Palace Papers, available at Urban Source. We're looking forward to seeing her newest design, Heroine, released this summer.
Rose Tejeda Navarre and Jennifer Rossignuolo own Urban Source at 1432 W. Chicago Avenue, not Verde.

I have used wallpaper to decorate things or to make crafts.
I always get a lot of compliments about it, even if it does not come out right.

Ahh, I need to think more creatively. In my attempts to do with less clutter, I recently passed up a wonderful roll of vintage wallpaper at a thrift store since I knew I would never do a room or even a wall with it and I couldn't think of any projects that I could use it on. I love these ideas!

The door thing is perfect - I have Panels of Fug, too.

Those wallpapered door paneled on the right would absolutely drive me to crack, because the cartouche is off-center. That said, in some vintage wallpaper books, they show examples of using the wallpaper in this very way. No kidding. Mainly in the 1940's, I think.
