ICFF 2008: Nine-0 Swivel Armchair by Ettore Sottsass

2008-05-23-90.JPG2008-ICFF-CHI2008-05-chiicff.jpgGreat looking and comfortable, we were bowled over by the new armchairs designed by Ettore Sottsass. Shown by Vitra and produced by Emeco, these chairs have a pedigree and sense of quality which was immediately apparent.

A redesign of the classic Emeco aluminum Navy chairs, these are the final chairs designed by Sottsass, who passed away in late 2007. We liked the brushed finish with the red seat and back the best - a just right mashup of classic Americana and Italian style.

i love emeco chairs. I can't afford them now, especially the polished ones, but one day I will have my Icon barstools.

These really do pay homage to some of the early Emeco and Goodform industrial task chair designs from decades ago, and yet they are thoroughly fresh and modern. Beautiful!

$875 - That's not too bad, I guess...
...and it's made in the US - which is good!

I hate the one with the slatted back--too cutesy-referential to the older chairs. But I absolutely love it with the upholstered back.
