2006-09-06-landofnod.gif The children's store offering from Crate and Barrel is (no surprise!) close to North and Clybourn.

2006-09-06-blocks.jpgWe live close by and this is our go-to shop for quick baby presents. The selection is good and prices are fair. Over the past year or two we've picked up: a framed print, colorful oilcloth bibs, wall letters, funny toddler dishes, a singing bird (so sweet), cd's and LOTS of books. We even found a pair of Groucho glasses here for a certain Marx Brothers fan and Tintin posters (in French!).

We've found the staff to be helpful and the giftboxes are cute (an obvious bonus when buying presents). The toy selections for preschoolers is nice, more wood than plastic. Lots of puzzles, games and fun crafty items.

2006-09-06-lind.jpg Now, that is where our expertise on the Land of Nod stops. We haven't spent much time looking at the furnishings and bedding, but it seems fairly traditional. This is not the CB2 of kids room decor. Prices for cribs go from $329. to 629. and dressers are mainly in the 500. - 800. range. The Jenny Lind bookshelf (left) is $199.

Our review: a big thumbs up on the gifts and toys and a big question mark on the furnishings - can anyone add any info?

How appropriate. We are "Therapizing" our apartment, but without the timeline. And the next room on the slate is juniors. Thanks for this great resource.

I can't speak to Nod quality, but the crib prices are in the "decent, solid crib" range.

I had no idea they sold books there. My goddaughter's birthday is rolling around, I'll have to pop in and see what they have.

Love the Tintin posters and the sweet little singing bird!
