Wowo Ellipse Dog Bed by Vûrv Design

wowo-ellipsedogbed-pic.jpgWe don't have a dog (although it's unfair how many cool accessories dogs have compared to cats), but if we did we might be inclined to fall for the Ellipse Dog Bed by Vûrv Design.

With a nod to Eames and other molded plywood classics, the Ellipse dog bed, $799, is made from bent plywood and comes with the veneer of your choice and more options than you can shake a stick at (bamboo, maple, cherry, wenge, hammered/red and pebbled/white).

It also reminds us of the Coco Stylewood baby lounger, which is quite fitting, because your pet is totally your baby as well.

The Ellipse is available with either a Crypton "super fabric" cushion of a faux fur cushion.

Um. It's not like a cat can't sleep in that there fuzzy thing...

If you ask me, there's a helluva lot more designey stuff meant for small pets (cats OR dogs) than there are for large (50 lbs and up) dogs. This here bed is very fetching but at $799, it's not fetching enough for me to want to pony up. My dog is just as happy sleeping on my bed. ;)

totally agree with summer. So many great designs are small dog focused. I'm not talking about ridiculous clothes either.

summerinbrooklyn, I just had to laugh at your comment. Your statement applies to humans, too -- there are many more awesome high-end/designer clothes for skinnier individuals than for the overweight/obese. Sucks, but that's life.

I thought I'd be the only one - I love this for a human size.

If this came in a golden retriever size and were affordable, I still couldn't buy it - that white fuzz would be ripped to shreds and all over my living room in 10 minutes flat. It looks too much like a stuffed toy to last long in this house.

When I looked at the first photo, I thought a giant white CAT was curled up inside ... what a disappointment to see that it wasn't an actual animal in there!

Not a fan of the white fuzz, but I'd like it with a different cushion. Too bad I'd never spend that much on something that my dog pretty much only uses for licking her unmentionables and messily eating things.
