I have one of these sitting on my dark wood dresser in a grouping with a crystal perfume bottle and all glass hour glass. I get comments on it all the time. It just adds a slight bit of sparkle and whimsy without looking tacky.

So. Very. Tacky.

This would be way cool, if I were 5 years old and a princess...or a pirate...

Not that tacky, I've seen far worse here.

i bought a bunch of these from chinatown because i thought they'd be nice in a grouping but they just always look awkward.

and $28 each? that's hilarious! i think i paid $5

I like it, but it totally doesn't fit in with my decor.

I object to paperweights in general. Papers should be put away.

yeah, what's the point of a paperweight? Like is your house really that windy that papers are geting blown around?

I would not use it as a paper weight (as I agree with Cassis above) but for a bit of sparkle in a dull corner, I like it.

I've seen 'em in our favorite Chinese store. They've them in different colors... Um... clear, blue, green, yellow and aqua... and I think pink for around 9 bucks. They're actually feng-shui remedies for the flutes/mirrors feng-shui crowd; not the old-school feng shui one. Either way, I think something like that would be perfect in a very unsuspected place to add a little fun and irony, for example, right next to a soap dish in the restroom, or by your jewelry box, or even better, in the middle of an aquarium. It's not meant to be "haute" decor, but a tonge in cheek "more is more" interpretation.

i have one--in amber--in my office right now. my coworkers either like it or, like me, think it's hilarious. and i think i paid $9 for mine. it came in a nice little box that i use to hold binder & paper clips.

Love those, in crystal, on small mirrors on a windowsill.

I love any crystal that throws rainbows, to enjoy the rainbows without the rain.

And they make a show for not just the person on the inside of the building, but on the outside as well. There is a small objects store that has many crystal items, and tiny animals covered with crystal.

In the evening, they look dull and crappy. In the sunlight, one may be blinded by looking at that store's display window without welding goggles.

I got one for Christmas as a joke (as it's the only diamond I'll ever get). A 5 year old girl visitor was totally enamored of it.

It makes me think of southern hip-hop artists and gold teeth.
