What's your favorite resource for your home?

It's no secret I work for DWR so it would be wrong if I didn't give them props.

What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home?

I like the entryway to my place because it unfolds into the kitchen and living space. You walk in and get a feel for the entire space.

Love the art in the office! Is it a custom work or something available commercially?

Love it. Especially the goat painting and the Atari controller.

But am I the only one that wants to go into their bedroom and move their nightstand in the other direction so the magazine rack part is on the side?!

Simple and well thought out, but a little on the boring side.

I love the wall colors. A tiny bit sparse for me but it looks comfortable and happy!

It is simple, it is clean, but it feels more than sparse to me - it feels sterile and it doesn't feel like a place that someone lives in. I'm sure she just cleaned up a lot for the pictures, but it looks like a lonely apartment.

What bugged me is that one lone chair against the wall. In the first picture it appears that it is hanging out nearly in front of the front door. I could not figure out why the chair is in that spot.

why is the chair all alone in the hallway?

Any comment I'd have has been said already... simple, clean, stylish. Love the color, etc, etc etc. This one gets an enthusiastic thumbs up from me. Well done!

I was disappointed when I got into the photos. I liked the sense of openness and space and lack of clutter, but I wish there were more space shots. Still, kudos for picking a few powerful pieces and giving them room to breath. The only think I found odd was the scale of the kitchen chairs. Seems like you could have found something a bit smaller scale and airy.

PS. Just a guess, but I keep a chair in the hallway to sit and put my shoes on.

Hey everyone

Thanks for the great comments so far. Modfan is correct - the chair is there to put on my shoes. I'd love to show you more but I dont think it would be fair if I posted a link to a flickr account. The artwork is from a local artist named Derek Erdman who is a friend of mine. He has been posted on here before - www.derekerdman.com. I have another of his paintings in my kitchen that you cant see. If I get selected for the next round I know you guys will see that my place isnt so "sparse". To me it was hard to convey the entire place in 5 photo. I wanted to keep it looking clean and simple and it sounds like i have from your comments. I hope you like what you see and thanks again!

I really love the kitchen table and chairs, I think the whole apartment looks very calm and serence, but those chairs made me sit up and take notice. Where are they from?

Why is the IKEA Expedite bookcase, Saarinen chair and plant blocking the hallway? It's like an obstical course to get into the apartment!

Why aren't we seeing the sitting area of the living room?

What is so super-cool about a kitchen with laminate cabinets from 1985?

Is the joystick on the coffee table "Art" or something else entirely?

This is super-lame...

We'll if I could tear out the kitchen cabinets myself I would - but thats quite an investment. I did pull the carpet in the living room myself and install laminate flooring on my own accord and own dime with my landlords approval. I just couldn't handle the nasty worn out carpet. The bookcase works as a room divider to make the kitchen more of its own place...most people that come here seem to think that it works really well. The hall is wide enough to handle it. No obstacle course. Thanks for your comments.

I like it. Clean, modern, colourful and livable.

Too bad about the rental kitchen (not a criticism - I have similar issues).

Very nice job!

I like what you have done here although the colors are a touch too soft for my tastes but are very nice non the less.

I do love what you did in the bedroom, that stripe of dark gray across the center of the walls in the bedroom is a nice touch.

One thing though, your fridge looks like it's leaning to one side a little bit. Took me a minute of starring at the photo to realize exactly what I was looking at. At first I thought it was a barrel distortion effect, but upon a closer examination of the space between the legs, I saw the evidence, the space between stove and fridge told it all. :-)

Nice job overall though.

Cheers.

Hi Lindsey,
I love your place!

I have a question... I have the exact same moulding you have in your bedroom in my dining room. The way you painted it is the look I was going for, but my mouldings kind of blend into the wall and look the same color, rather than standing out like your mouldings. I don't know if it is lighting or if I just chose the wrong colors. Can you tell me the paint colors you used?
Thanks a lot... and good luck!
