Survey: Do You Refer to Consumer Reports?

100908crlogo.jpgOver the years, Consumer Reports has always been an absolute in my family: consult, assess, decide. We try to continue that pattern now but sometimes lose that disciplined approach and make decisions based heavily on personal (or ahem, blog) recommendations. Generally, we think using information from as many angles as possible will always be the best way forward with consumer decision making. We'd like to know how many of you are Consumer Reports devotees - especially for home-based decisions. Survey below:

And just a note for people who might not want to pay for a subscription... many if not most libraries subscribe to CR, if not individually than through a database provider.

Yup use CR all the time. For electronics I supplement with CNET. And for household stuff I supplement CR with what people say on Amazon or Target websites

The one appliance purchase I made without going by CR, it was a disaster. My bf is a cheap mofo and pushed HARD for me to buy a discontinued Inglish dishwasher at Best Buy instead of getting the Bosch I wanted (and CR loved). I've regretted it ever since, and so has he, since every time I've had it repaired I let him have it.

Sorry, Inglis, not Inglish.

Definitely. I was raised on CR, and am using it to decide on our next car.

are you kidding me!? This is my bible, I will almost never by much of ANYTHING without consulting consumer reports! Backing it up with Amazon consumer reviews! It had never done me wrong with everything from cars to popcorn and everything inbetween. Highly recommended!!
