Inspiration: His 'n' Hers Shared Room

We frequently field questions about how to design for rooms shared by brothers and sisters. Ohdeedoh reader Stephanie shares a pair of photos of the room shared by her daughter Savannah and son Elliott. Above we see Elliott's side. Keep reading to see Savannah's...

Stephanie says that this room is still in the early stages (does the work ever end?), but we love it already. The secret? Don't fuss over the gender stuff. A subtle wall color plus cherished items and beautiful toys -- from cars to dollhouses -- add up to a room that any child would be happy to call his or her own.

Most kids are pretty equal-opportunity when it comes to playthings. Having a brother and sister share a room is a wonderful way to ensure that both get a chance to share and explore all kinds of toys.
