The apartment looked normal: a sectional sofa and love seat, lamps, coffee tables, a rug, paintings and even an entertainment system inside a 750 sq. foot apartment. Except this apartment was built secretly inside a mall parking garage. The secret apartment was recently revealed when mall security apprehended one of the "tenants" leaving the apartment. It's too bad...just imagine if they had entered next year's Smallest Coolest Apartment Contest.

Absolutely hysterical...

Fascinating. I'm not able to look at their site at work. What about car fumes? What about a power source?

WOW!
Ok I looked at the site and neeeeeed to see more! This is like the ultimate cubby house! How could staff of the mall not know about it? You would think that the Builders would have closed off the space somehow...
AWESOME IDEA! I want to know more about their oher projects and what kind of trouble would they have gotten into...?
An amusing question... according the laws of squatting... could they eventually either buy legally or just come to own the place? LOL.

I live 10 miles from Providence, RI. The night before the apartment was discovered, I was shopping at the Providence Place Mall. Creepy!! I believe "squatter's rights" is 7 years, but they lived there for 4 years. In Providence, the average 1 bedroom apartment downtown is probably between 1100-1600 for something nice and around 800 square feet. But, I don't know anyone who wants to actually live downtown. The only people who live downtown in my city are artists or young, hip, stockbroker types. However recently all kinds of condo towers have been built and they seem to be catering to young professional couples.
