There's a lot of storage ideas packed into this tiny kitchen: open wall shelving, under-the-counter shelving (behind the sweet blue fabric), pretty cannisters, and a casual group of baskets. While it may seem cluttered, it seems like everything is organized to specific areas. We're liking the idea of arranging fruits, herbs, and flowers in a basket on the counter as both a storage spot and a rustic centerpiece...

I have to ask, where did that super cute picture come from? I have a room that is almost that color, and it would look great on the contrast wall!

While it's not the same poster, I found something with similar colors. It's an Orangina poster. http://www.enjoyart.com/single_posters/coca_cola_soda/Orangina_Soda1.htm

Not by New York standards!
Think carefully before you install open shelves - they look great until you realize that ALL the stuff on them has to be washed every other week!

Yeah, I am so not a fan of open shelving, I mean I don't like staring at boxes of food, or my mismatched glasses, or worrying about how I organize my dishes.
They seem oddly high maintenance for how "minimal" they appear.

Re open shelving: not to mention that I find it very stressful to have to see all that stuff.
I like kitchens with just a couple of open shelves displaying a few things. An open-shelf system for all your dishes or your pantry items though -- that's just showing off your (needed) clutter.

We have open shelving until we can afford kitchen cabinets. I dream of the morning I can walk into the room for my morning coffee and not be greeted by the sight of every grocery item we own (& all the dishes getting dusty & greasy and needing cleaning). It is a lovely picture though.
