The Estetisk Box from Ikea is only $24.99, has a sleek design and is the perfect wrangler for all of our shelter mags. We don't know why, but the cut out slot to help pull the magazines out is the perfect detail (It will also help identify where in the pile the magazine we want is).
Looks like it would make nice storage for records, as well, if I have my dimensions right...

I like the wood that they are using and, obviously, the price is right but I do not agree with your comment that it would make it easy to pull out a magazine, athough spotting one would indeed be easier. I mean, how would you pull one out anyway?
Although different the Fusion magazine box is another nice alternative and is not much more expansive.

I do not like it as magazine holder. However, I think a few of these would be useful for my son's Expedit to hold his small toys.

They have smaller sized ones for office supplies, I think, that I've been using in my bathroom to hold odds and sods. Love the design, even on a small scale.

Since a stack of magazines in a box isn't easy to use - (Imagine trying to dig out the one in the bottom - more trouble than its worth!) Perhaps this is meant for the magazines in the recycle pile?

choose magazine you'd like to read. place index finger in the gap between your chosen magazine and the one below. it might take a few tries, but don't give up sunshine, keep trying. lift your finger with the magazines on top and with your other hand grab your chosen magazine. if you really can't get it out, read the picture manual. if all fails, try open shelving and return your Estetisk Box for a full refund.

Ooooh, that's not a bad price. I recycle my newspapers and magazines religiously, but right now I use paper bags as a container in my living room. I don't like that look so much and have been looking for something like this, where I can just take out the papers on a weekly basis.
