Inspiration: Everyday Preppy

090108prep-09.jpgWe don't know if it was the Symbolically "End-of-summer" Labor Day weekend or the heat wave that has enveloped us (love it!) but we're clinging to summer with everything we've got. Shopping Abbot Kinney on Saturday we felt inspired to bring some "beachiness" to our Echo Park abode. Let's look at some options after the jump.

When we say "beachy" we mean less grandma's seashell prints and more vintage-preppy. At Ralph Lauren we found the "Cheasapeake Novelty White Line On Paper", and knew it would be perfect to highlight one wall of our dining/bar area. We have a white vintage desk in the space, and that print would really make it pop. We then stumbled across another nautical print-the "Out to Sea Map-Fogged in", also from Ralph Lauren. We loved it's kid-like quality and thought it would be a great way to brighten up any dull space. And while all these items are preppy in style, we think they can be used for your everyday home look. They also allow you to skew more modern or vintage, depending on your personal taste.

never fond of this look overall---I grew up with it and it always reminds me of snobby teenage kids in high school. Now it always reminds me of snobby rich people in the east coast/new england area! Also the clothes only look good on pretty people (the real pretty people)!
But I will say that argyle pillow and throw from Poettery Barn sure looks nice :-)

I LOVE the clothes - they never go out of style, since they're not super stylish in the first place, like a tufted leather wingback chair is not hip... but not dated either.
