Overlapping Squares Chair from West Elm

west-ewlm-red-chair.jpgWe were in West Elm yesterday and we saw this overlapping squares chair in bright red.

Now it does not look lacquered as much as sprayed out in glossy paint, but we love this interlocking square pattern that West Elm does.

The chair is $159 (plus another $40 if you want the cushion), which we thought this was a great looking and well priced choice for anyone needing some extra seating.

I've also seen this in person, and this chair packs a lot of style punch for the price.

I'd do one at a living room desk, or two flanking a console.

I enjoy this chair as well...red is not mything so I would consider painting it in another high gloss color! Looks very David Hicks with a print custom cushion!

(comes also as a side chair and alternatively in a chocolate finish)

As usual A.T. is reading my mind. Have been looking at this chair along with the headboard in the same motif. Wish the headboard came in other finishes than their slightly dated chocolate. Would look great in a gloss white - very J. Adler.

I agree about the bed too! I am over the chocolate/wenge. .. I wonder if you took it to an auto body shop if they could spray with high gloss auto body paint?

Dave- have you seen their new white parsons desk? I just purchased it-great Adler look to it. I love his lacquer desk but it is super pricey!

Michael, Great Idea! - but find it hard to spend too much on a $199 headboard. Have been thinking about painting it myself with a high gloss oil based paint; similar to what you see on front doors in Europe. Won't quite get that enameled finish I would love, but more in line with my budget.

Love the white desk. Have not seen it in person tho. Have been looking for a console table with that same look; (white lacquer, parsons) Have any leads where I could find one without breaking the bank?

You could probably use the desk as a hall table. Has two drawers for misc things. Would be very chic w/ a tall mirror or pictures leaning against the wall. I have the white desk in a room with orange walls and the contrast looks amazing

Wanted to use the console over a radiator and replace a wall shelf. Too tight on space for a full desk. Have linked my name to a few pics of my place. Have also included pics where I would like to use the headboard. I think it would define the bed without blocking any light; since it will be partially in front of a window. Comments?

I think Ikea has as LACK table that looks like a white gloss parsons table for a great price It does not have a drawer and I am not sure if its listed on the Ikea website but a possible alternative. Could look hot against dark grey walls with a vintage gold curvy mirror.

I totally dig the red chairs from WE could be fun around a Saarinen table (side chairs that is). Kelly green could be a great lacquer color or how about silver or gold with a black cushion...I could just go on and on...

is chocolate really becoming dated?

I think the dark ebony wood stained room is in its twilight, especiallly for West Elm. I believe if you carefully mix it in with other woods and it looks great, but to do a whole room in all ebony stained wood is getting dated.

Saw the pics of your place Dave...i think the headboard would look good. IS the pic of the radiator where you want the console table? Agree with Turquoise about the LACk table being an option, however it may be too long for that space.

Michael, That is where I was thinking. Have also been playing with the idea of the peekaboo console table from CB2

Just want something simple that disappears

i like the lucite peekabo table idea!
Is the shelf you currently have a lancaster shelf from hold everything? I just ordered the same shelves!

Good eye - yes it is. Painted the dark wood one semi-gloss white. Purchased it before it was available in white.

I was mistaken...its the MALM console table - not the LACK and its about 74" long- which might be too long but what a fab price...thinking about getting it for myself.

LOVE the peekabo table from CB2- great choice!

I too am deciding between the CB2 peekabo table and the West Elm white parsons table for my entryhall. Thinking dark navy blue walls and a le klint or Galbraith & Paul drum pendant - any opinions? Unfortunately the west elm table is on backorder until 3/31/06!!!

You "guys" are kidding, right? Hoo, hah! I wouldn't have thought it possible for anyone to gush so much over cheap, already-dated sweatshop-manufactured crap that'll end up in a West Hollywood garage sale, or a landfill, in a matter of months.
