Moooi Design

moooi-q-.jpgSometimes we see furniture the way we look at art, or a really hot body. Their shapes, importance, and style can just turn us on. That’s why we love Moooi, a web experience based out of the Netherlands.

It is always a joy to see artists who put their touch on everything they do, and that is what Moooi is about: Cool art, interesting people, important invents. And then there is the furniture. Beautiful shapes that feel important with undeniable style.

09_splinter-crystal-vase.jpgWe wish we were rock starts, because that’s who this furniture is for (we are sure they are the only ones who can afford it, too). Things like Ross Lovegrove's Barbarella couch or his funky, galvanised steel Lovenet chair. The Crochet table from Marcel Wanders (shown with the puppers) makes us giddy, as do his cut crystal Splinter Vases.

The web site might take a while to get around, but like most good things it is worth the wait, so settle in with a nice glass of merlot, or whatever puts you in the mood and check out all that Moooi has to offer.

Great stuff. I love the sense of humor. Those droll Dutch!

But these pieces have SO much personality, I wonder what their long-term liveability is.

With that concern, and the fact that the stuff is so camera-freindly (but perhaps all not so practical?), are they around to stay, or destined to be the Arquitectonica of the 00's?

Note to self: Find a way to use "Arquitectonica" in a conversation....

Libby--
Hey, if Alec can get Brenda from 90210 into a conversation about floorplans, then I'm confident you can work Arquitectonica into just about anything!

ps: Kudos to Moooi for the brilliant use of a Hairless Chinese Crested as styling prop.
