We spent some time at Ikea with a client who needed some cheap fillers until a little cash came in.
She wanted simple, chic bedside tables to hold night reading and a (small) lamp. We needed to get her to pull her mattress away from the wall so her honey didn’t have to climb over her to get into bed at night. That meant the side tables had to be small.
We give you the Rian ($9.99). It comes in white as well. Its chrome legs give it just the high-end pazazz needed to help the happy couple achieve their dream of a calm yet sexy bedroom. It looks so good in the room, our friend doesn't even need to replace them. That's when you realize that Ikea rocks.

Finally, positive IKEA posts! And two in two days, no less. The constant barrage of IKEA-bashing (and the "IKEA = carbs" bias) on the NY site was starting to bum me out.
I bought a lot more IKEA stuff than I've ever owned when I moved into my current place because of budgetary constraints. I considered many of the purchases to be "cheap fillers" (as you put it) until I had the cash in-hand to trade up. Funny thing is: most of the pieces look great in my place, show little wear and are extremely functional. I've not been able to find replacement pieces that work better. So, a lot of it is staying!
The point I'm trying to make is that IKEA is a perfectly acceptable option as part of your overall design mix. Don't hate on me for being frugal.
PS On topic, I like the look of the table.
I was actually hoping no one would discovery this sexy little table. (My little secret.) I have it in white next to my dark brown sofa and a Blu Dot Hod Rod table on the other side. The demensions are perfect for a tight space.
When IKEA is good, they are very, very good. That's a cute table, and you can't beat the price.
Enrique, you ought to have realized by now that I am an IKEA fanatic. Or maybe not, with my posts being so long, you never actually got to the parts where I went nuts over IKEA stuff. ;-)
Andree. Oh, I've noticed! I wasn't referring to you at all.
Speaking of Ikea. They used to have a wavy front chest of drawers that came in a shiny lacquered look. It came in red (forget the other colors) and ended up in a lot of high end decorating magazines. I don't know why Ikea stopped carrying it, because it was really cool and obviously a decorator favorite. I saw it in an amazing decorator's house in South Pas a few years ago. She had two of them next to each other in her bedroom, the rest of which was done up in a 40s glamourpuss kind of look. They fit in great with a bunch of really pricey, upscale pieces, including antiques. I've been wanting them ever since. I wonder if I could find some on CL some day. But I don't remember the name.
The secret to Ikea is to mix it up with other stuff.
Yes, I agree with the aptly-named wisechick: the secret is in the mix!
