Is it just me or does one side of the base look like a frisky seal lounging on it's back and the other side looks like a seal on it's back...with a baby bird popping out of it's stomach? Ack, maybe I need another cup of coffee.

I thought mustaches were making a comeback! Would this be a tablestache?

I loved this table at first sight in the new DWR catalog and love it even more after reading about Eva Ziesel -- she is a bad-ass cool old lady.

Maybe I'm just hopelessly out of the mainstream... but i am having a difficult time trying to understand this design trend in which ornate patterns and curvy details have entered the modern vernacular. Do we appreciate these kinds of designs at face value for what they are, or is there a large modicum of kitsch involved? And where does kitsch enter the realm of just silly/tacky? And is this a trend with legs, or are we going to hang our heads in shame five years from now?

I like the base of the table but not the glass.
