Galvanized cool.
You may remember that Sara and I went looking for a galvanized tub to use as a pool for Ursula (@2yrs), and found this great company: Dover Parkersburg, from which we bought a really nice 33 gallon tub that's about four feet long. Looking for the site again to show a friend, Sara stumbled on an even better source!...

Behlen is an ranch and farm supply company out in Columbus, Nebraska. They stock lots of big, tough stuff, including a whole line of galvanized and poly stock tanks. These things are all between 1' and 2' deep and come in oblong and circular shapes. They even go up to 10' long! I can imagine hundreds of uses for these things, particularly during these long, hot days of summer. How about a cool pool on the roof of your apartment building? Or a hot tub in winter?

You don't have to go all the way to Nebraska to buy these.

If you had to go to Nebraska, there'd be a lot of thirsty horses. LOL.

Right? They are great though, no matter where you get them. I have a huge one on my (wooden) back deck that is all planted up with citrus trees and gardenias and jasmine. Makes my little deck area smell SO GOOD in the summer.

Doesn't the metal get incredibly hot? I'm all for looks but this is just not practical.

I used to swim in one of these at my grandparents house when I was younger... it was a ton of fun!

I never would have thought that galvanized stock tanks would get me all excited but whatdoyouknow. I would like to buy two and paint them (which according to the internet one can) and then use them on my wood deck to hold my boxwoods, which are temporarily contained in big plastic tubs from Target. These tanks would be a step up and it looks like Lowes and Ace Hardware sell them. Thank so much for this post.

Yep, Jippo, the metal does get really hot and really cold.
I'd think there'd be a Tractor Supply Company (or similar) in most parts of the country.
This post gets me all excited because I've been to the Behlen Headquarters!
