I had the honor of being a part of the panel judging furniture this year in ID Magazine's Annual Design Review. I am happy to say that two out of the top three prizes were with my consent. The magazine is just about to hit newstands, so you can have a sneak peak right here...

1. Simpledoubledeux by Drexler Guinand Jauslin Architects - This amazingly simple, beautifully sofa bed does exactly what it looks like, it pulls out to sleep two. While there was a lot of debate on our jury about many of our choices, this one was like voting on an iPhone, it escaped all criticism. Nice picture gallery here:

2. Baby Faces Wall Panels by Badham/Norris - These paintable high relief wall panels evoked laughter as most of our group, liked the drama and the humor that they would lend to a room. I thought they were creepy.

3. Ribbon Stools by Nendo - Of all the stuff we looked at, I thought these stools were the most artistic and aspirational. I don't quite know why, but the swooping lines and clean laser cut steel signified a beautiful balance. I was even quoted as saying, "I think it's poetic." I still do, but I had to argue for these. Some of the others were underwhelmed.

I love the bed . . . . . So clean and simple. Maybe ikea can
do something similar . . . .

I have to agree on the baby faces wall.

That bed is AMAZING! It probably costs a small fortune.

If I had those baby face panels, I would have nightmares. Drama? humor? whimsy? All I see is ugly.

I can understand the attraction of the ribbon table.

It personally reminds me of an athletic supporter, however.

There are qualities of the bed that I like, but more that I don't.

I hate how low to the ground it is and that you'd have to keep it partially open to appreciate its function. But, mostly, at $3,500.00, it's not realistic for the average person. Not to mention that you'd have to pay for shipping. FROM SWITZERLAND.

But, that's just me!
