AT Europe: Paris - Designer Rental Apartments

appartofparis.jpgFollowing in the footsteps of fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa, whose luxury rental apartments 3 Rooms opened a few years back in the same building where he lives and works, Stella Cadente designer Stanislassia Klein has designed a new and more gently priced hotel apartment on the Canal Saint-Martin.

appart-of-paris-2.jpgAppart of Paris, as it is called, is a one-bedroom self-catering apartment in a hip 10th arrondissement neighborhood decorated in neutral colors with an understated contemporary Parisian vibe. There's a fully equipped modern kitchen where you can make your own coffee and meals, classic touches like a period fireplace, and poetic flourishes like angel wings over the bed. At €175 a night, €325 for the weekend of €975 a week, it can sleep up to four (there's a pull-out couch in the living room). And Stanislassia has left her address book of favorite haunts, plus an invitation to invoke her name around the neighborhood.

For those with more to spend, check out 3 Rooms at 5 rue de Moussy in the 4th arrondissement. Fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa has designed these upscale rental apartments located in the building where he lives and works with minimal kitchens and furniture from Jean Nouvel and Marc Newson. They don't have a website, but you can email them at info@3rooms-5ruedemoussy.com for more information.

Woah, I'm with cityofparis. It's not even really the cool part of the Canal Saint Martin. If you look at the map on the website ("Pratique"), it's the bit on the "five o'clock" leg of the canal that's cool. Anything north of there, on the "one o'clock" is fine - lots of nice little odds and ends, a few okay cafés, lovely to go for a walk on a sunny Sunday afternoon but really nothing to write home about. Although maybe I should be pleased that it's getting a "hip" rating - that's where I live. :)
