AT Europe: Paris - Top-Lit Chandeliers

tb1.jpgThe top-lit chandelier has been showing up a lot lately, with light projecting downward from the ceiling to illuminate cascades of crystal or hand-blown glass bubbles.

The skeleton of a traditionally shaped chandelier is lit from above in this chandelier on display at the Two Be boutique in the Marais, which also has top-lit lavender-colored crystal ball chandeliers that put a smile on my face until I learned that they were made to order in Germany for about 20,000 euros.

And Patrick Jouin's 2006 Bubble light has become a Parisian classic, seen above in a home-sized version in the new lighting department of the BHV, and below at the handsome new Flute L'Etoile Champagne bar in Paris, where the symbolism is not lost on anyone.
