apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Cheap Idea: Clothespin Chandelier
Paris

clothespin-chandelier-2.jpg

It's not only the familiar lamp posts that light the Paris night, but the glow from shop windows hoping to haunt the dreams of passersby who will come back in the morning and spend money they no longer have on beautiful but non-essential things...

jamin.jpgJamin Puech on the rue Vieille du Temple sells fantastically expensive boho chic handbags that are works of art in themselves, from a gem-sized boutique that would make a fantastic apartment, with its ancient patina of centuries gone by. But window displays are always full of free decorating inspiration. Maybe these junky but oddly appealing clothespin chandeliers they had hanging in the window only look chic surrounded by expensive handbags, but it's a nice reminder that you don't necessarily have to spend a lot of money to make a room-changing statement.

Hi Yolanda,
It looked to me like clothes pins neatly clipped to a tiered wire frame -- I would imagine you could improvise with an old lampshade carcass, bent coat hangers and a bag of clothespins from the 99-cent store.

It's a bit too summer camp arts & crafts for me.

This is brilliant! I'd paint the pins, maybe have them alternating in black and silver.

I'm heading out to the clothes line...

i really like this! maybe up close it wouldn't look so hot, but if it was done with tiny pieces of nice wood i'm sure it would look fantastic (and be quite expensive).
