Q Collection's Environmentally Friendly Baby Collection

Jonsara Ruth, of Q Collection is the last of our profiles of the 4 presenters/panelists at last Thursday's AT Design Meetup on Green @ Home. Jonsara comes to the Q Collection after a rich past including growing up 'off the land' in the Finger Lakes Region, going to art school, and managing manufacturing production for Martha Stewart. She turned to Q Collection when she realized that both the environment and product design were personal priorities that could not be compromised.

Justin Green, Director of Build It Green NYC! was another of 4 presenters/panelists at last Thursday's AT Design Meetup on Green @ Home.

Justin recognized the massive amount of waste that comes out of the construction industry, and created a non-profit to try to save a fraction from the landfill and get it back into people's homes, all the while raising money for environmental education...

Chris and Holly, long time AT readers, have a great home that they built from 'scratch'--in the New York City sense of the word, of course. They gutted it, ripping out the electricity, plumbing, and everything other than the supporting studs of the original space. Then they sent in their own photos and hunted me down for a house tour...

Name: Michael and Walker
Location: Chelsea
Apartment Size: 1100 sqft. condo
Favorite: Books and 1950's daybed (Michael), that they were able to find such a good deal on a Chelsea apt. when everyone said it couldn't be done; and the dishwasher (Walker)

In February, Michael and Walker, moved across the street from their penthouse, pre-war, rental in London Terrace to a two-bedroom apartment on the ground floor of this three-story building. The move was primarily motivated by a financial offer too good to pass up. They miss their former home with all its light and detailing but are determined to embrace their new space...

Curtis is somewhat of a cult figure in the AT world. His studio is so packed with Apartment Therapy worthy elements that he just keeps showing up in our posts. And when we designed our latest book, Apartment Therapy Presents: Real Homes, Real People, Hundreds of Design Solutions, we knew we had to include Curtis! Since we last visited, Curtis wrote to say that while his original baroque style gold TV was his pride and joy it was hard to ignore the poor image quality of a 27 year old piece of technology...

Favorite: "Having a balcony to step outside on (and to make people smoke on) is nice"

Duncan designs with great hesitancy, as he is afraid of (real estate) commitment. He is one of the lucky few to successfully negotiate a legal inheritance of an affordable New York City apartment. His grandparents moved to California, and he got their stake in a Mitchell Lama building. The building might go private but either way, he has possession of a one-bedroom coop in a doorman building...

Sarah is best at recognizing potential when desperation is a major factor. She's apparently the only person who called the landlord after seeing what is now her 950 sqft, 2 bedroom apartment in Fort Greene. That is an incredible fact in this day and age of cut-throat real estate angling.
