Simple Maple Beds by Pacific Rim

2-20-pacificrim.jpg

Cheap chipboard and lightweight bedmakers everywhere beware. So many of our clients have to store items under their beds (even though it is not good for the energy of your bedroom), that we have been looking for a really nice, high quality simple bed that raise you up a bit...

These beds are manufactured by Pacific Rim and sold by Green Home, a remarkable marketplace/store for green products, and are high enough (14 1/2") to accommodate three rolling drawers beneath.

In addition, these beds are among THE BEST for you, your children and the earth:

"Each piece is hand-rubbed with a finish of tung oil and pure beeswax to highlight the natural beauty of this distinctive Maple hardwood. They are free of toxic glues, formaldehyde and particle board and considered environmentally safe for your children's bedroom and nursery."

And then there is the price. While more expensive than a futon frame on Broadway, these are reasonably priced at $440 for a Queen (but shipping can be expensive, adding 5% and about $200, doh!) and $115 per drawer. Other styles are available.

You now have ONE less reason now to buy a cheap bed that you will soon throw out.

I was sold until the additional $200 5%. That Malm bed is looking better every day.

I've been eyeing this one, but speaking of simple and cheap(ish)... any thoughts on this Muji bed? (link is to UK site)

It looked pleasant in the soho showroom a few weeks ago, but I can't tell if I should bank on durability.
