Rangeley Bed

2-27-rangeley.jpg
Scouting around the bedding world, we came across the Rangeley Bed at LL Bean. Hiding in the shadows, far from the trendy, modern furniture world, Bean's bed is solid ash with hardwood slats, made in Maine and only costs $339 (full).

With a clean design, this is an excellent solution for those who are looking for an all-wood, solid construction bed on the cheap. Those folks up at LL Bean aren't too hip, but they do have good, solid product.

This is a great bedframe. L.L. Bean has been making it for years (I should know - I bought one about 8 years ago and it's still going strong). The construction is very solid and the price can't be beat. I'm suprised it's priced so low for what you get.

My only question...is the headboard too low for reading in bed? I'm looking for a cheap, solid wood bed, but I have to be able to prop myself up with pillows for some serious reading.

Jessica, I have the same question. It looks like it would be too low after my huge mattress and box springs go on, plus the featherbed on top.
