Best Product: Lyon Industrial Stool

9-26-stool1.jpgSeen and tested at George Taylor Specialties in Tribeca, this Lyon Industrial stool is remarkably light and stable with a stylingly industrial look. We can easily see having these in a NY kitchen in grey or painted a special color (a la Martha Stewart).

They can be found at C & H Distributors for about $50 each, but you should be sure to also order the rubber feet which make them soft on the floor. The feet can be seen on their Diesel stools here.

We pulled a bunch of pics below because the site is hard to navigate!

these stools... remind me of summer school drawing class. they are not comfortable for a long period of time! but in an unexpected color... it could be really cute.

DWR actually sold these about 5 years ago in differnt colors. I bought a blue one from them on sale (when they used to have good sales) for $40 or so, along with an orange duo-plane shelf. I use it for my drafting desk. It works well, but I could probably use a cusion for it.

I have one of these that was in my parent's garage for ever. Now it lives in my kitchen and looks a little worn and beaten. However, it's the perfect height for me to reach the topmost cabinets.

Could I spray paint it a fun color? Would that just look too spray paint-y?

This is too weird.

I've been looking at these too.

It's also funny that DWR used to sell them because I've been trying to decide if I should buy the tall Xavier Pauchard Marais stools or two of these and paint them in a similar color.

You can also order these stools with cool little casters if you want.

I've also discovered that these stools are commonly found at architectural salvage dealers.

i'd probably like these more if i'd never been an architecture student and spent half a hundred all-nighters hunched over on one that was spray-painted with the college acronym (in the ugliest colors possible) so we wouldn't steal them...

How would this stool best be painted?

Also, is there a vendor for this stool that does not ship via freight? I'm interested in buying a few of the 18" stools and painting them red (like Art), but I may as well buy the Pauchard stools from my local DWR if freight costs are going to wipe out the savings.

good point greenwalls.

I haven't looked into the shipping yet.

If shipping seems high maybe the manufacturer could supply with local dealers like commercial hardware stores.
