Finn Juhl's Home
Metropolis 7.16.08

The work of Danish designer Finn Juhl has popped up occasionally in our Scavenger and Auction posts. His home, located in a northern suburb of Copenhagen, is now part of the Ordrupgaard museum. Built in 1942, the home is Juhl's own design and is filled with his furniture and prototypes for various furnishings and accessories. Metropolis magazine shows us interior pictures of the colorful home and the collection of Juhl's work...

This reminds me that tying the colors of the art into the room furnishings/textiles is really key in creating a curated look. Gorgeous.

I think that the white chair is the Poeten sofa. Here is a link to it: http://www.retrotogo.com/2007/10/poeten-sofa-by-.html

I have always loved this house. It's been featured in many magazines/books. I will have to visit, next time I'm in Denmark.

what possible usefulness is a coffee table in front of a door? (other than 'ooohhh! cool design!'?)

The Danes traditionally arrange low tables in front of doors;
in the summer, these act as speed bumps for wayward elk, or reindeer.
