Beautiful... but the thought of walking on cold marble with bare feet?!

Thanks for the pics! I'm in the process of redoing my bathroom and decided to go with carrara. What I have in mind was a mix between the 2nd and 4th pictures... Its good to see how what I'm planning will look!

I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of marble in the bathroom. It looks a bit cold and austere.

Awesome, a thread on marble at last--someone help! Here is my new marble bath (in a co-op I am moving into soon hip hip!!) and I don't know whether the grout was sealed..is there a way to tell? How do I clean marble? Last, can I drill into it like one could with tile?

Guys I have done a full marble bathroom, and you can have the look and the warm floors too. Use Easyheat floor warming system.. simple 110 install. www.easyheat.com . You guys will love it. This works on tile floors too!!!

Can you use different natural stones for the countertops and floors or will it look funny? My husband wants to do marble or granite floors, and we wants it to match the countertop we picked out: Azul Aran granite, a pale gray-white-blue color. But that material is so expensive, even our tiny bath would be very expensive (not to mention the tub surround). And I'm not a fan of matchy-matchy anyway. I was thinking of maybe just a gray or white stone to pick up the tones in the countertop--is it tacky not to match?

Three words: slippery when wet!

If one is worried about slipping on a marble floor, a honed marble could be used for the floor and polished for the walls.

Mixing stones is okay, I think, to a point. My guest bath has a Carrara marble foor (with very light veining) and a Black Galaxy countertop. Biased of course, but with the color scheme I have it looks pretty sweet. It really depends on how loud the patterns in each stone are.

Stay far away from Carrera marble in the bathroom. It was the worse mistake I made in my bathroom remodel. Carrera is impossible to keep clean. I can't tell you how many stains, marks and etches I get ever wihen being careful. It's a soft stone and even when sealed still show water stains. Not to mention the area around the toilet. If I had the money, I would rip it out and put in granite.
