Lots of ideas can be found in the small space that is Nest Interiors. Among the both decorative and functional ceramic and glassware, Nest stocks a wide selection of throw pillows, artwork, clean-lined furniture and unique lighting.
I find the store is an ideal stop for housewarming and wedding gifts. I'm also impressed as the majority of the merchandise is new to me—especially the lamps and lighting. This is no small feat in New York where many smaller stores stock the same wares. Nest's look is mature and classically-modern...

Excellent description Aaron. Just yesterday, I received a lovely gift purchased at Nest by someone who gets the 'mature and classically-modern' feel that I'm aiming for in my home. The gift is elegant and unique, so I too highly recommend Nest.
i was just in this place last week, randomly enough. everything there is way, way, way too rich for my blood, not to mention too tony for my humble postapocalytic abode. but lovely. i saw scores of things that would make great gifts had i the means to give them. many other things that, in 20 or so years, i dearly hope my style has evolved to accomodate.
Who is "—aaron - maxwell"?
Did Aaron write the nine sentences explaining the store "Nest" or not?
until my recent move, i lived around the corner from nest for a year or so and often admired the window displays and featured goods/wares, but i refrained from going in what with my spending problem and saving to buy a place of my own...
once the first time homeowner issue became a certainty, i started thinking about furnishing my new place and allowed myself to enter nest. while i got that nervous excited feeling i get when i am in stores filled with beatuiful home and design items, i was completely turned off by the store attendant/owner who viciously eyed me up and down, probably assuming my boyfriend and i couldn't afford anything or wouldn't buy anything. i started to feel so uncomfortable, i just left without even looking into the items that i was interested in.
it doesn't matter how many times it happens to me (us) as a person (people) of color - i still get furious. sure, let me acknowledge that MAYBE JUST MAYBE it had nothing to do with the color of our skin, before some sympathetic ATer states that possibility...somehow, i doubt it judging by the other patrons and the neighborhood in general. this has become an unintended mild rant. while i am at it, screw the jonathan adler store on greene st.....RUDE....RUDE....RUDE. there are few younger men in the shop who are polite and helpful if approached, but the WOMEN in there, EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM that have been in there the past couple of visits are horrid.
as excited and ambitious as i am about slowly furnishing my place and seeking out special pieces and decor, i have really had it with the pretension and ridiculousness of some of these sales people. that's why i've turned to the dangerous world of online furniture shopping and decorating. it's worth the risk to not deal with stuck-up stores and the fools they hire.
to much in one corner.........
bk I can understand your anger but I seriously would have addressed this matter right then and there with a store manager/owner. No one should have to go through what you and your boyfriend did. Sadly, this happens more and more often. I've had it happen to me. With my husband or a couple of family members who although are Hispanic are dark skinned. Although I am light skin I get soooo agitated when I see this happen I quickly open my mouth. I usually ask for a manager or ask to speak directly to the owner of the store. On a few occasions I've been taken care of the way a customer should be taken care of (customer is always right). Other times you can see the b-sh_ _ excuse slip right out there mouth. It sad but sometimes, and I mean sometimes it's not the owners fault. The store can get a bad reputation from the employees bias attitude alone. Again, I say to you go back in there and let them know what you experienced and tell them exaclty how it made you and your boyfriend feel maybe just maybe you'll get a 20% well deserved discount.
Dear BK
As owners of Nest Interiors, we would like to apologize for the experience you had while visiting our store. With the utmost sincerity, we can honestly say that the impression of judgement that you were feeling was not in line with what we were thinking. We can say this because we know how we treat our customers and because of who we are as individuals. There is a lot of damage and hurt that can be created by assumption. We generally greet everyone who walks into our store, unless we're incredibly busy helping others, and we always treat people with respect and kindness, as we would all like to be treated. If you engaged us, or vice versa, I think that you would crearly come to understand what kind of people we are. Again, we are sorry that you had an unpleasant experience and we welcome you to give us another try, even if it is just to say hello. Feel free to email us, if you wish.

I've been shopping at Nest Interiors for the past few years, and always find something I have to or want to have. I try and stop by every week to see what is new, and I'm often surprised by new wonderful prints, paintings or furniture by local artists and craftspeople. Nest has a beautiful selection of pillows, candles, lamps and accessories for the home. You can even custom order furniture pieces through them. Even my dog Satchmo loves going to NEST Interiors (followed by a visit to the Barking Zoo next store)to browse and visit with Lana, Henry and their dog Fig. Highly recommended stop for holiday and home shopping! Lana and Henry are great..
Nest is a nice store with nice things thewoman not sure who she was, wasn't super welcoming, and was speaking to me while on the phone. felt like i was more bother than valued customer so i left. I did go to some stores down the block on w 20th btwn 6th 7th st today, and realized that they sell most of the items Nest does for less too. just an FYI, I like the idea of nest, but the other stores were super friendly.
