This over-the-sink rack reminds us of the little kitchen in our student apartment in Finland. It had kitchen cabinets over the sink that were slotted in the bottom. They were made for holding hand-washed dishes and allowing them to drip dry into the kitchen sink below. Following yesterday's Dish Rack Debate, we wanted to share this rack by Umbra...

Very nice! It also says you don't take yourself too seriously.
I'm getting my credit card out now as I type this....

I saw these at my local Bed, Bath, and Beyonce last month.

I have this! I keep my spices and measuring cups on it and have used it to dry the occasional glass that wouln't fit in the dishrack. I got it for our last apartment because there was no counter space.

I've seen the ugly side of this rack. Dusty spice bottles, sponges and soaps and trying not to wobble the thing when turning on the tap.

Only problem I see with this design is clearance. If your faucet is all the way on the handle might hit the shelf and knock things off. Otherwise I might go buy this right now.

To let my brushes drip dry into the sink, I put 3M hooks under my cabinets, over the sink. The hooks themselves are not visible unless you go looking for them, and they are sturdy enough for the light load of the brushes.
