In many of the bathroom month posts, readers have expressed their love of Foam Soap Pumps. They drastically reduce the amount of soap you use and
many find the feeling of foam more pleasant than a dense gel. In yesterday's Look! Do It Yourself Soap Saver post, reader CWillows shared the link to the Stainless Steel Foam Soap Pump, pictured at left. While we won't go into specifics concerning the hand model's manicure (and horrid color choice in polish), we will share more details about this soap pump...

That is one of the snottiest comments I have ever heard. Her manicure is pretty subtle - and it should be, to sell the product. What is your problem?

The nail comment does seem rather bitchy. I don't see any reason for it either.
view marid22's profile
I think the manicure is gross too. I don't think it's very subtle at all. More subtle than red, yes, but they really do not look natural. But I think the soap dispense is great, I hate handsoap!

Emm I hate to say, but that looks like a fairly classic french manicure.....

Ditto on thinking the manicure comment is catty. Who cares? Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed if at all it wasn't pointed out to me.

Didn't see anything wrong with the manicure!

Ditto the manicure remarks -- really necessary. Where the manicure itself is not offensive, the commentary polish color is offensive. Why does polish color matter to a home decor blog?
view jayme's profile
her manicure is lovely. the polish color is quite fine too. are you just trying to generate more comments and offend people? this is may be why the average person is afraid of too design, and hiring interior designers. because of people like aaron who look down their noses at someone who is actually trying to make an effort. i feel personally discouraged from reading at-ny after posts like that.

I believe that's a good old classic french manicure (as readers have mentioned) and that nail color is her natural nail color (with clear polish.) In this election season, that would be called a racist remark by some....

ok I have a question about how to refill a foaming soap dispenser: do you just mix liquid soap and water? What's the correct ratio?
view spossberg's profile
Even after looking at the hands (which I didn't until after I read the post), I don't get it.

Wow AT, even more horrid are your out of place comments! You completely took the attention out of the pump.
view gabiushka's profile
gabiushka has it right. This post raises more questions, concerns and thoughts about the quality of the AT editors than it does about the supposed intended subject of the post, the soap dispenser.

*RELEVANT POST*
it's a dream come true to find a customizable foam handsoap dispenser! i keep buying the Method foam soaps but i really don't like the scents -- now I can pick any fancy soap i want (an apparently make it last a decade with how much dilution is involved)
Does anyone know of any other styles or seen them in NYC stores?

haha, french manicures are O-U-T out, or didn't you know? Tres tacky. The saop dispenser is great, if a little pricey.

i really wish AT would institute guidelines for their editors to weed out unnecessary, distracting and offensive comments like aaron's. to me, the lack of editing here demonstrates laziness and a lack of thought on both aaron's and his editor's part. it's too bad. quality is loosing ground.

I love the soap dispenser. The comment about the manicure, not so much.

Give Aaron a break - it's not like that was the focus of the post. And besides, it made me chuckle a little.

I reuse my Method foam soap dispensers by refilling with Planet dishwashing liquid soap and water, in a ratio of about 1:5.

hja: thanks! 1 part soap, 5 parts water?

You can get a manicure free version of this soap-pump doodad at Storables (and probably The Container Store too). It might be the very same pump actually.
I can't believe people are getting so bent out of shape about the manicure comment. I think the hands look icky too... but what do I know? I'm a guy.

LOL! I totally have that same manicure :-) Twice a month I get pink & white. Cheers to being prissy, getting your nails done, and loving pink :-)

I am very excited about this pump! I've been reusing foam soap dispenser bottles too. As for the manicure comment, I know that snark is very popular on other blogs, but that doesn't seem like AT's style. Seems more like something we'd hear from a troll.

Lourdes--it's losing, not loosing. Use correct grammar before you comment on the quality postings on AT.

no need to continue the snarkiness BtotheB. i know how to spell. my typing on the other hand is not great.

nails or not, this pump is poorly reviewed on amazon. i assume it's the same one--it looks identical. i don't know how i feel about soap shooting two feet across my bathroom... heck, my bathroom doesn't have two feet for soap to shoot across!

I have that same manicure, too. But, what do I know? I live in West Virginia.

Usually I just use the plain pumps for my own products but this was something a little bit more luxurious.
I've been making bath and body care products for some time. I in particular have a couple facial washes I frequently put in the pumps they can be found at:

I have this pump! If I remember correctly, you add two tablespoons of soap and then fill the bottle with water until it is 2/3 of the way full (it's necessary to leave air space). I like the pump, although sometimes I need to give it a thorough cleaning to keep it from getting stuck in the down position. Also, occasionally the foam has bad aim (hitting my wall or body instead of my hands). That said, I still really like this dispenser and am buying far less soap. For some reason the foam is so much more appealing than normal hand soap.

I find that any metal or steel pump contaminates the product it dispenses. I have found plastic foam pumps, though, on many an occasion.

hahaha! I think the manicure comments are hilarious! Being a straight male- I have to say, the nails are like neon vegas flashing signs. I thought the same thing- I hate french manicures, they should be banned!
Keep it coming AT!
