Author: Martha Stewart
Publisher: Clarkson Potter, 2007
Price: $45

Rating: Strong Recommend* from Jason Lody (an AT reader and volunteer tester)

Short version:

"The book is what you would expect it to be and it does not disappoint...Thank you for adding yet another 'Good Thing' to our lives and to our bookshelves..."

(This is from our guest tester, Jason Lody, who won this book with his great comment in this post. Thanks, Jason!)

Long version:

"What is shagreen? Check out page 714.

How about minimizing lead in drinking water? Check out page 612.

It seems that for any situation, Martha is there for you: designing a kitchen (page 34), a crisis on how many towels each bathroom should have (page 332), or the apocalypse (page 636-655).

This book does not read like Martha's other publications. There are no glossy photos of perfection like her magazine displays monthly and what she presents here in this handbook is a great tool to have available in case of the leaky faucet or an embarrassing diaper stain. The book is what you would expect it to be and it does not disappoint.

I will let Martha share the closing of this review with you: the goddess says (page 5) "I like to think we've come close to answering just about any question you might have, and sincerely hope that the information in this book can enrich your life – for taking care of a home is rewarding work indeed."

Yes, my Martha dear, you have and it does! Thank you for adding yet another 'Good Thing' to our lives and to our bookshelves."

I borrowed this book from the library and I think it rocks! I won't be able to buy it anytime soon but I'm sure getting a lot out of my borrowed copy. I think I'll be renewing it a few more times, lol.

Why is there a link to Jason's "great comment in this post", when there is NO post by Jason there? Or, at least, I can't find it.

What am I missing?! This keeps happening with these guest reviews...

When I sent in the review I used my name 'Jason' and when I posted the reason why I should review the book, my log-in name of 'yungitaly2003' was used. The "great comment" is there for your enjoyment.
