kind of an erotic (or very non-erotic?) rugby scrum of a table.

I prefer not to stare at women's asses while I'm sitting in my living room, but then I'm slightly biased. (This is a coffee table and not a dining room table I hope.)

Looks like it could be set piece from a David Cronenberg movie--maybe eXistenz or Videodrome.

Let's take a moment of silence to envision the swinging bachelor who buys this table for his pad (I think he has a black leather sectional, don't you?)... and is thereafter puzzled by why the gals he brings in to "see his etchings" flee before finishing their first dirty martini.

Design as social Darwinism...

This table is not by "Bryan" but just hosted on his site. The maker is a guy in the Netherlands names Mario Philliopona. More info here is this news article:

As "art," mildly, if not bizarrely interesting. As actual furniture in someone's home? Add another *yikes* to the list. Would go well with the leg lamp from A Christmas Story (Fra-gee-lay...must be French!)

It's tasteless, but if it's meant to be "art" then I guess it succeeds. Much of what passes for "art" these days is pretty tasteless...that said, I give it thumbs up for the artist's imagination although I'd never want one.

I think I breathed an audible sigh of relief when I clicked on the survey results and saw that most people agree that this table is most definitely NOT hot.

Like Jamie and Kjirsty, I'm a little flummoxed as to why this is even on AT.

i just don't like the whole thing as a composition. i look at it as shapes, and the overall look just doesn't jive for me. too busy and un-cohesive. i might like it better if the legs were barefoot -- i think the high heels are messing with whatever "natural" feeling the woods are presenting, and not in an interesting way.

Just checked out his website. This photo is tame compared to the other "angles" of the table. And it is a dining table. The legs are almost lifesized. Gross.

I could not find any more pics on his website. The website seems to be just some guys site and he posted the pic (which I think he just pulled off of the internet) of this table under "Humor".

This reminds me of a time about 25 years ago when I went to a chain restaurant in Chicago (can't remember the name) and saw women's body parts on the menu, to illustrate mostly chicken menu items (a woman's bikinied torso for the chicken breast, etc.). I wrote to the corporate headquarters with suggestions for menu items based on men's body parts, but only got a stock answer.

Fetishistic, highly sexist, and violent (the legs without torsos seem like women have been dismembered... and the sexualisation of chopped off women's body parts is unsettling).

Disappointed this was posted, frankly. I've been loving this site over the past year and can tolerate things like certain bloggers' inability to spell, or lack of fact-checking or what-have-you... but this is just offensive.

I mean, yes, I suppose it could be argued that it's a bit humourous in a WTF sort of way... But why not create a context for the post - some thoughtful commentary (rather than simply the juvenile "Hot or Not"? Maybe you're just trying to stir up some controversy? Keep it up if you want to lose your readership.

Egh... Have I lost my sense of humour? I hear that happens to disgruntled feminists...

There's hot, and then there is a desolate freezing tundra where temperature is measured in negative degrees Kelvin and all carbon-based life expires instantly.

This table is in the second category.

the only way it could be even more repellent would be if it were anatomically correct.

(that's not a misogynist comment, btw - cuz i'd feel the same way about an anatomically correct male version.)

Um... pphillipphd... I think it may be anatomically correct. I hate to tell anyone to look carefully, but if you examine the buttocks facing us, there's a lot more going on there than on, say, a Barbie doll.
