H&H Currents Roundup

What with summer malaise, heat and a particularly weak H&H last week, we just didn't have the gumption to blog the whole thing, but it would be a shame to miss Currents.

In addition to which, we found the Thomas O'Brien stuff here just now:

I'm not familiar with Thomas O'Brien's work as a designer, but these pics from his Target range have sold me. Much more grown-up-looking than Isaac Mizrahi's icky Jane Magazine-meets-Carrie Bradshaw home furnishings. My question is... when will Target partner up with Kelly Wearstler?

Thomas O'Brien rocks (and he is a cutie who I'm lucky to see in my neighborhood every now and then), but I find his stuff hard to categorize, as it is vintage inspired but not terribly traditional. Think hip young married couple with money moving into a pristine traditional brownstone, wanting to respect the space and not be too flashy, but also not wanting it to look like they are living with their grandparent's furniture. See, I told you it was hard to categorize.

It will be interesting to see how it does nationwide via Target. As someone said here awhile back, one person's vintage (inspired) is another's "old."

I am happy to shop for his cause... that checkerboard rug is right up my alley.

This is the second time I've seen that Mollino table in as many days. Ian Schrager referenced it in his interview for this month's House & Garden.

Hey wait a second . . . that was the most enjoyable H&H read I've had in a long time! I was, well, CHORTLING!

Anybody else?

I LOVE the Thomas O. lamp. Very nice. Very, very nice. Clean, simple lines. Goes with everything. I hope the shade offered with it is nice; I'd like to get something like this but if the shade is terrible, I'll have to go to an expensive place to get a good shade.
