Bath tubs have morphed into sculpture. The New York Times rounds up some very, very pricey tubs that will elevate your bathroom to art gallery status. If you have the budget — and space — for some of these behemouths, make sure you have a cleaning service (keeping a stainless steel bathtub void of spots and streaks is not our idea of fun)...
Our favorite of the bunch is the Papillon tub designed by Michael Zimber and Michael Cahill for Stone Forest. Shown in Carrara marble (above), the design is available in different materials including granite and travertine.

Stainless steel is at least 20 time more expesive than it was 3 months ago. I wonder if they fix the price of this tub or let it fluctuate with the ever risiing stainless steel prices. (steelwork designer)

I keep seeing tubs similar to the first picture and the first thing I think of is that it seems treacherous to get in and out of. Anyone tried one of these?
