Is it House & Home or Home & Garden? The Old Grey Lady was thin but interesting last week, with some good finds and a particularly nice article (Softening a City with Grit and Grass) on Kathryn Gustafson, the landscape designer from Seattle who has - after a long time - become quite popular. Working with the part of building projects that are often second thoughts, Gustavson has managed to elicit the quiet grandeur and sensuality of nature around such big buildings as the Museum of Natural History, The Shell Oil headquarters, and most recently, the Frank Gehry's Millenium Park in Chicago as well as Princess Diana's memorial park in London.
We particularly like Gustafson's ingenious use of water in her landscapes, and urge you to look at
