House & Home Roundup: 6.5 pts

2004_12_2_oppen.jpgSplashy. H & H serves up a good mix this week and it's grade only suffers due to an abysmal Personal Shopper and the fact that it is a little thin.

Regardless of whether or not any of us live this way, the lead article, A Minimalist Landing On the Beaches of Excess, is a great example of design reporting with terrifc pictures. Kudos to Raul Barraneche, who always seems to find interesting things.

Of particular note (and aside from the fact that professional jealousy requires our hating Chad Oppenheim's guts for doing such a good job at 33 yrs): the combination of deep, rich woods, color, huge outdoor curtains and a minimalism with heart stands out to us.

What's the bottom picture in this entry for. It looks like New Mexico, but I'd love to see the rest of the house.

Actually, it's in Turkey! It's a house from the Aga Khan's architecture contest. You can see a bigger version of that picture as the last page of the slideshow above... There's a picture of the front of the house as well, but I would love to see more pictures of it too, if anyone tracks the house down or knows more about it.
