House & Home Roundup: 7.20.06

7-24--vera2.jpgThe summer doldrums have set in, so H&H goes fishing for gossip. Or worse, shooting for it.

Is a contractor and a woman at home really "shooting fish in a barrel?" In the lead story, we learn how common tool belt affairs can be while the rest of the design world shows off their wares in preparation for fall (and Vera Wang has a new line of mattresses... at left).

I actually know of someone that ended up marrying her contractor - she's a friend of my mother's.

Alas, I don't know where people are finding these alluring, sexy contractors. The most involved I have been with the personal life of a contractor was when I was growing up and my family had this painter that would come in and paint various parts of our house for weeks and weeks at a time. He always had all this family drama going on, mostly with his wife. At one point he thought his wife was trying to kill him.

I wonder what ever happened with that?

One of my (gay) pals claimed the contractor who redid his closet was incredibly hot... but the contractor also was incredibly behind on his payments to his suppliers, was unable to finish jobs because he lacked the wood, and had let his contractor's license lapse.

Contractors fear me, so my husband has nothing to worry about from guys with big tools in their belts.

Um, if he "was unable to finish jobs because he lacked wood", he was sooooo not hot.

But there are EXCELLENT pills for that.
