House Tour: The House that Porn Built
NYT House & Home Roundup 3.13.08

Here's a new angle: The New York Times shows us the upstate home of former porn actor, Tom Judson (known in some circles as Gus Mattox). With a broad range of experiences in music and performing, Judson spent his spare time rehabilitating run down rural properties. Now, real estate is his passion...

Judson's do-it-yourself attitude transformed the shack he bought for $22,000 in 2000, into the 1,000-square-foot residence with multiple rooms and lots of outdoor space. The space is furnished with flea market finds and furniture that Judson built himself...

This yellow house is Judson's work in progress. The interior is nearly complete and the exterior is on the list when the weather improves:

Nice to see someone in his position that didn't turn into a drug-addicted mess...
...tho looking at his website at past projects, he needs to spend some time on his detail work.

Ummm

"He has found that some tasks, like Sheetrocking, are too onerous to take pleasure in, but he has learned, he said, to “truly enjoy the sensation of driving a nail home to connect two pieces of lumber"

Blah! I say... stick to what you know Gus because you sure don't know decorating.

This wouldn't be in the Times unless he was an ex-porn star.

... or at least to *look* like he's truly enjoying the sensation....

ummm... yeah, that's "poseurs".

i think the fact that most of the posts you read on this blog are extraordinarily positive gives you and indication of how very uninspired this home is.

He lives near me. I think I know who to invite to Easter dinner now. Anything to make my sister freak out...

Bravo!!!

I say more power to him. You may not approve of his life choices but he is not a victim in this story. He is a man that has chosen to live life on his terms. Wonderful that he found his true passion at an age when most people simply give up.

I for one would love to own that beautiful little red snow covered getaway. Who among us wouldn't?

The Cairo project was followed by a bungalow in Coxsackie, N.Y., which he bought in late 2006 for $72,000

The porn star bought a bungalow. In Coxsackie.

Truth is not only stranger than fiction, it's a lot funnier, too.

awww... come on TPW, i don't think there's anything wrong with being a porn star (and i think most of the posters here agree), but, you have to admit, the obvious jokes are too easy to pass up.

btw, i think gus was a super hot porn star.

i admire his passion and the fact that he has found a great second career. this has nothing to do with the fact that i don't like his taste or his bungalow, which i definitely would pass on owning.
