When we read that one of Charles Goodman’s Barrel-roof homes was having an open house on Sunday, heat or no heat, it was a must see. Whenever we drive by River Park we admire the uniqueness of this modern complex. The glimpses of the barrel roof had definitely piqued our interest. It was wonderful to finally see them up close and personal...
The complex was built in the 1960’s and as Reynolds Metals was the developer, it showcases their fashioned Aluminum Building products. Goodman embraced new building technologies and materials, and was prone to using pre-fabricated and pre-cast construction in his architectural designs.
In some ways, the complex is starting to show some wear but it’s hard not to be impressed with the interior of these homes. The barrel ceiling on the top floor is so much fun and with its curved-glass floor-to-ceiling walls on either side it’s a bit like living in a tree house; very open and airy.
The photos below are from a similar townhouse that sold a week prior. The former owners really embraced the challenge of decorating this distinctive home.

Umm yeah..wow...very cool houses but what is with selling a house with those colours? I'd have a headache within 5 minutes of viewing it LOL

I didn't know about these until I bought some furniture on Craigslist and went to pick it up from one of these houses. The owner was really cool and gave me and my bf a tour. If the neighborhood were more convenient, I would be lusting over these homes.

These co-ops actually are in a convenient location. They're 1 1/2 blocks to Waterfront Metro, Safeway, CVS, and a bank. The Nationals' new stadium, Air & Space, and L'Enfant Plaza are all about a 15 minute walk.
Lust away, J-fer Rose!

There are two other Barrel Roof Goodman Townhouses on the market. Both have virtual tours:
An end-unit: http://www.mydcagent.com/vtour.php?id=154
And an interior unit:

Sigh... they may be convenient to a lot of things, but sadly they are not convenient to my job.
