AT Europe: The Kitchen of the Future from Ora Ito for Gorenje

futurekitchen.jpg
Young French designer Ora-Ïto's black, streamlined, advanced technology, energy-efficient kitchens for European manufacturer Gorenje have raised the bar on kitchen design. And now he's created a prototype, recently shown at the 2008 Foire de Paris, of the "kitchen of the future" for Gorenje...

The bright white, four-ton prototype is freestanding and transportable, made from a single block of material and built so that it can be set up in the open air and equipped with Ito's line of black glass appliances. Its design is based on what Ito calls "simplexité" -- the marriage of the simple and the complicated.

(above and below) is available in black or aluminum.

Storage for? It's got a spice/ seasoner rack, enough space for dishes/ dishwasher, a monitor for recipe books and collections, cooking shows... a pantry for all your canned goods and a fridge for all your food. Seriously, unless you want to put your shoe collection in there, you've all the storage ANYONE would need.

Ugh -- if that's the future I'll pass. It looks too sterile for actual biomatter to be processed there.

Forget the design for a minute, any kitchen with that view will be a hit. One thing I like about it is it is so easy to clean.
