Hot Tip: Crimson Glass Lamp at Bombay

10-13-bombay.jpgThe Bombay Company may put many off as being fusty and overly traditional, but they've got SOMEONE in their design department with a pulse. Every now and then they come up with really nice stuff. Here's a hot tip we just received from Anne:

Just wanted to share my new lamp with you. It was on sale at theBombay Company this week and now has a happy home with me. I love it. They also have a cool red lamp there that I almost bought. [we can't find this one]

The Crimson Glass Lamp is $179 retail. We also liked this one in tortoise shell with a black shade below. (Thanks, Anne!)

Anne--
Nice score at Bombay! I LOVE when people don't give up on a retailer because perhaps the overall vibe is not what they're after. But these lamps are gorgeous and far below what you'd expect to pay elsewhere.

ps: Pottery Barn currently has a GORGEOUS tortoise shell glass lamp. Not as curvy as this beaut, but really nice, with a barrel shade and slick silver hardware. A little large for most spatially-challenged.

Anne, I saw the red lamp in the Bombay store on Broadway and 20th and it's a beauty! It's a little too big for my tiny, tiny studio or I'd've snapped it up. Love the red and silver together.

That's sort of the logical other side of the coin of something that P2 has also said in the past -- don't try to buy all of your pieces from the same store.

Somehow I ended up getting email alerts of Bombay Co. sales. So when I saw that tortoise shell lamp on sale for $89.50 I hightailed it to the closest store and had it in my apt. in a matter of hours. I think of BC as cheap and fussy but this lamp was a winner. Glad you all like it as well.

I'm a fan of The Bombay Company. They have a great selection of small home accessories and tchockes. So, they are one of my fall-back stores when holiday gift-shopping season rolls around. I've also found a lot of great stuff for myself. Tobacco-scented candles, chunky deco/moderne crystal martini glasses (8) and cocktail shaker, things like that. And, they always seem to have some kind of sale going in. My point? There always seems to be 2 or 3 gems that can be cherry-picked from each visit to the store--just wait for the items to go on sale and swoop in for the kill. If the home furnishing aren't your style (as in my case), check out the tchockes.
