Adding to our Guide of problem solving services, we are listing Cityproof as a local solution to improving your windows by cutting down on noise, draft or humidity.
Highly recommended by Peter, who wrote a memorable email to us last year on the subject, in which he used the words:
Oh. My. God.
Slience. Library quiet. Peaceful sleep. I slide the panels closed and feel like Charlton Heston in Omega Man, cloistering myself from the barbarians below. My favorite part? I bring guy friends in, show 'em the window, and say: "go ahead. Hit it. As hard as you can." All you hear is that dull whack of knuckles hittin' half-inch thick glass.
New York Mag says: The Best of 2004 - "The company can hush just about any type of window without affecting the style of the original panes or their operation."

How pricey are they?
Sorry, I didn't read the entire description. Starting at $500 per glass. Thanks.
I used them once in a client's apt. on Park Ave. They work wonders. You can't believe how much noise it shuts out.
We live on a truck route in Brooklyn and decided to put in Cityproof windows when we were expecting our first child. I had reached my limit on car alarms, horns, idling trucks and drunks in the street late at night. The day they installed them, I just sat in the silence. I felt a calmness I hadn't felt in years. They make a huge difference. Plus, everyone we dealt with at the company was extremely polite and knowledgeable.
Ours were way more than $500 a piece (we have 6 foot high windows) but worth every cent.
I have not used Cityproof, however, I did contact them about a window related project. It was not a service that they perform, but they were very friendly and helpful. This is generally a reflection of a company that has good customer service.
