I'm writing to share a nursery design that I put together recently for our new baby boy, born in May. Of course as an architect, I spent endless hours searching for that perfect combination of furniture, accessories, etc.
On a separate note - take a look at www.jasonlewisfurniture.com, one of the MOST DIFFICULT tasks I undertook was to find a rocking chair that was comfortable (but not fat), high backed, good looking and would still fit into our New York apartment bedroom.

Is the rug from CB2?
As a child, I would have been endlessly fascinated with arranging things on the circles of that rug. Five years hence, the kid can take out the building blocks and do urban planning on that rug.

I just saw that same daybed at Metropolitan Design Center on Broadway. I don't know who did it, but I know I saw it there.

We are rug-hunting ourselves and would love something this pretty, but more practical. (Leaning toward FLOR.)

Wende, we have a similar rug that was suprisingly affordable from Conran (red background, multi-colored spots) and our children do exactly what you said about arranging stuff on those circles. So your post made me smile - yet again.
Be careful of the Flor rug if you have an infant. I'd have to do more research, but I believe it has PVC backing. It's not good to expose children to PVC. If you get it, maybe let it air out first.
Room looked great. When buying a crib make sure the side slides up and down easily. You will break your back lifting your baby from the crib. Also if you are able to lower the level of the mattress you will get more milage form your expensive designer bed. I have five year old daughter and looking back I spend way too much money on things that were supposed to be great design and educationl for you child. They grow so fast. Save your money for things and experiences you can enjoy with your baby.
If I had a kid, I bet I'd totally do my nursery like this! This way, as the child grows you don't have to keep changing the entire decor, but you can switch the accessories to keep it fresh. And that is one BEAUTIFUL kid. :)
