A few months ago I wrote in asking whether I should reupholster my
parent's 1960s danish modern chairs. We just got the chairs back from
the Furniture Joint and we couldn't be happier. Matthew and his crew
did an amazing job recreating every stitch down to the tiniest
detail. We couldn't be happier.

It's very green to re-upholster furniture that already exists.
PLUS -- breathing new life into already-good design is really smart, because brand new furniture can cost quite a bit even if it's not well-designed, and sometimes the guts and hardware of that stuff is practically irreplaceable.
PLUS -- there is something really satisfying about getting that kind of project underway and completed, even if you're not literally doing it yourself.

So the total cost was $3300. This includes pick up and drop off, taxes, and the leather (which we picked out at global leathers).
Completely worth it, IMO, especially when you compare prices on similar, new chairs.

Oh wow. I was loving this until you mentioned the price--my mouth dropped open... They did turn out gorgeous though so I'm glad you could afford to do it. But, wow--$3300?!?

The newer versions seem rather squared out, and I might be mistaken, but they didn't seem to recreate what looks to be welted seams on the originals, which would account for the sharp edges.
Ah well, as long as the owners are happy with it, that's what counts. They're beautiful chairs nevertheless.
