apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Look!: Corner Toilet
Boston

corner-toilet.jpg
We fantasize about someday revamping our old, tiny bathroom, when the budget allows. We wouldn't be able to expand its ultimate size so instead we ponder creative ways to reconfigure the sink, shower, and toilet to make the best use of the small space. And we thought we'd considered all the options until we came across an unusual solution…

We discovered this corner toilet at a client's apartment this weekend. It's the little things in life that thrill us and this just seemed like a downright cozy configuration for a toilet. Positioning a toilet in the corner may not maximize space but it does open up a whole new world of possibilities!

Have you seen or do you have a corner toilet? Any other unusual toilet arrangements?

I've seen corner sinks before, In a small room a corner sink and corner toilet could work.

I can absolutely imagine spaces where this would work, and when it would, it really seems like it would feel so much crowded than smack up against the wall.

I meant "LESS" crowded. I really should take better advantage of the "Preview Comment" feature.

lol that is a funny toilet. Never seen corner toilets before. I think it's a great idea for small washrooms.

This is just what we need. Our 1/2 bath is 3.5' x 4'5 feet. Just about everybody hits their knees when they sit down.

My uncle fit a bathroom under the stairs in his old victorian by having a corner sink, corner toilet and corner shower.

I researched corner toilets on the internet for the little bathroom in my old house renovation a couple of weeks ago. They are way more expensive. I bought a small pedestal sink at Home Depot for only $29 on sale and it will be installed at an angle as a friend suggested. When I tested the old toilet at an angle to see how it would look, it seemed too much of fixtures at angles and not worth the extra expense. I got the one piece Glacier Bay Home Depot toilet for $99. It is quite small and having new clean fixtures makes me happy with the bathroom. I hope there will be a smallest coolest bathroom contest. The worst part of the house is shaping up to be a gleaming little jewel, though a few problems remain to be solved.

My husband and I recently lived in an apartment with a corner toilet here in Philadelphia. It was blue. People were impressed. It inspired me to sing, "Toilet in a corner, toilet in a corner, it's pretty serious..." (apologies to The Smiths). Note: the rest of the apartment, not so cool.

I have one of these in my apartment, it was about the only way it would fit in my tiny bathroom.

certainly gives one more elbow room than a regular unit installed square into a corner (used one or 2 of the latter in my apartment lifetime, and it was like having to be a contortionist to complete the seated deed ... not fun, but comical in a twisted kind of way ;)

so this in-the-corner solution in a confined space would eliminate that issue quite nicely!

great scoop!
