Hotel Therese Lobby
Parisians know small. Their town is so much older than ours that their spaces are funkier, smaller and more varied than almost anything you run into in the New World. They also know color. French color is amazing. All of their design makes use of color in a way that is surprising and totally different than other countries. Here is the first of our Paris Design Notes from our whirlwind birthday trip this past weekend.

Love it love it love it. The colors of the lobby are so great. Pinky red and that curryish green gold are so beautiful together.
Thanks for taking time during your holiday to record the details. The hotel looks lovely!
Looking forward to the rest of the Parisian posts....
I was in Paris 4 years ago for my 40th birthday and it was soooooo nice. What a great reminder of a lovely trip. And yes! The colors in Paris are really very unique. The big wooden exterior doors would be painted in these wild, beautiful colors, but with a paint that was such wonderful quality that it made perfect old-world sense somehow. Some of them had a peacock blue that was beyond beautiful.
Love your toilet fascination. We were just in Paris for Christmas week. We stayed in a super tiny place in the 17th Arr. One week sharing that little room with my mom and my Brooklyn studio felt SO huge and spacious.
Nothing a trip to Europe to make you appreciate what ya got.
Maxwell,
Thanks for inviting us into your lovely Parisian hotel and letting us take a little peek.
Love the bedside closets and alcoves. What a great idea. Your multi-angle shots of the Allia toilet made me smile, because it underscores your wonderful fascination with design.
Darn, darn, darn! We almost stayed at Hotel Therese last year but I changed my mind at the last minute and booked a different hotel that we didn't like. Now I'm even more sorry!
Just lovely room!
The colors in that lobby are gorgeous. I keep saying, I could put that on my walls! Yet my walls remain blank.
Thank you so much for the pics. Looking at them brought back memories of my visit to Paris years ago and it made me smile.
I want to sit in the lobby with my two oldest friends, have a few drinks, and put my feet up. Luscious. My favorite color combo. Nice, nice, nice.
The bedroom pillows look as though they smell good.
I love those colors. Any ideas on where I could get some throw pillows in that great "raspberry" color used on the ottomans?
colors that make a good day feel great (not to sound too cheesy, but what embers smoldering warmth) exactly the handling of color i hope to achieve some day
