Martha shares with us how to make floral spheres a la Brooklyn event planner Avi Adler. The spheres look pretty easy to make, simply sticking hardy blooms like carnations or daisies into floral foam (there's a little more to it than that, but not much)...
Avi Adler's creations would be great for any spring celebration and are at once pretty and modern. Martha says that when you use a flower preserver on the blooms, the spheres can be placed almost anywhere for decoration. We'd hang one over the table in place of the lighting at a springtime dinner. Click here to see how to make them.
Yes, VERY "a la" Avi Adler.

Yeeeah, FIVE HUNDRED flowers? I love Martha/Avi's universe. Someday I hope to visit there, however briefly.
However, on a small scale, with fake flowers and some white glue (not removing the stems, leaving an inch or so to poke with) I could see this working.

I made these with kermit mums for my wedding. It took A LOT of flowers. I tried to use carnations to alternate green and white, but we only got 2 out of the carnations I bought to make 6. I think I bought 8 dozen stems of carnations, at least.
Also, if you soak the floral foam beforehand, they're really really heavy and drain water for a while, so watch out.
